The Why or WHAT THE **** ?
When I set out to build Four Letter Word Club, it wasn’t just about creating another brand.
It was about honoring four of the deepest passions that have shaped my life:
First, storytelling.
Through my role at The Buddy Group, I've been building Storydriven businesses for 20 years — companies anchored in emotion, history, real human connection empowered by technology and the community they are apart of.
The brands that endure are the ones that stand for something — not just in what they do, but in the way they bring their audiences into their narrative .
Second, golf.
Golf has been a lifelong love for me — and something I’ve proudly passed down to the next generation.
But not just the game itself — the membership into what we quietly and loudly reference as the Four Letter Word Club:
That shared understanding of frustration, hope, failure, and breakfast balls — and the relentless pursuit of doing better.
Third, building something on the right side of history.
A business that fuses the best of what’s timeless with the best of what’s possible.
Where authentic community drives value and revenue.
Where technology and AI are used thoughtfully across operations, product, and experience to move smarter and faster.
Where the experience economy and media are leveraged to build not just customers — but lifelong members and storytellers.
Fourth, something for my friends and family.
In life, there are those that collect things, those that prioritize experiences and those that collect friends. I have found enjoying things and experiences with friends and family is what brings me joy. Golf can be both enjoyed alone and enjoyed with friends and family.
My wife, who has been my rock and biggest supporter, has successfully helped raise two amazing kids who love experiences, music, arts and spending time with friends. Both of them have the entrepreneurial spirt and the spirit to create. The process of capturing the making of Four Letter Word Club is also for them and my way of encouraging them to "Do Better". Both kids have been part of this journey and my son, Parker, is actively involved in the business.
Fifth, I've got nothing. I was on a role and ran out of steam.
Anyhow...
That’s the "why" behind Four Letter Word Club.
About Four Letter Word Club
A cultural brand that honors the past and includes the future.
Four Letter Word Club is more than a relatable word — it’s a tradition.
A familiar society hidden in plain sight.
A club built on the shared love and hate of the game of golf — and the relentless pursuit to do better.
Tied to the founding day of America’s first golf course and every founding day in America since, the club’s legacy runs through generations of players, caddies, coaches, storytellers, rebels, and romantics.
It is the first American golf brand — the cultural influencer behind how golf spread and evolved across the country.
American brands.
Creators and Celebrities.
Pros and Amateurs.
Every family and its traditions.
They all have a connection to the Four Letter Word Club — and a story to tell.
Inside the Rope is where our story — now your story — continues.
